So, you like to browse with your fingers more than your touchpad and now you want a Chromebook with a touchscreen.

You’ve come to the right place.

In this list review, we’ll briefly go over every single touchscreen Chromebook that’s the best of the best that’s been released thus far.

Sound good?

Let’s get touchy (sorry).

Last updated: 3/4/23.

A bunch of new touchscreen models just rolled out

Since 2023 just started, most of these are from 2021 and earlier. But that makes them super cheap for 2023 and beyond!

Therefore, this review will be geared towards laptops from 2021 and earlier that are proven to be some of the better models based on reviews from around the web and my personal experience.

there have been a lot of touchscreen Chromebooks to hit the market recently. Everything from the extreme Samsung Pro and Plus to the student-savvy HP X360 have a touch screen.

Chrome OS even got a few new features just for touchscreen Chromebooks and new updates to the Launcher made it more accessible as well.

Touchscreen Chromebooks are the new standard

Touchscreens are the way that Chrome OS is progressing rapidly.

With the addition of the Play Store (Android apps that are built for touchscreen phones) coming to Chrome OS, having touch just makes sense.

Although there aren’t an absolute ton of touchscreen Chromebooks prior to 2017, we’re starting to see a bunch of new models roll out and they all have this capability.

There are enough that it can make a purchasing decision very difficult since they all offer different features, specs, and even usage functions that they have to offer and what makes each of them different.

Feel free to browse this list accordingly. Whether you want an entertainment laptop, productivity laptop, or gaming laptop- at least one of these models should suit your purpose.

We’ll go over the top 4 best touchscreen Chromebooks and you can decide which is right for you. These laptops are some of the most reputable with tons of positive reviews gathered from around the web.

You really can’t go wrong with any of these. This buyer’s guide should help you in your purchasing decisions.

Even in 2022, there’s still a push towards making everything touchscreen-compatible. This is the way things are moving and many of the newer models all support this functionality.

If you don’t like touchscreens, you can always turn off the touchscreen functionality and use your Chromebook Like a traditional laptop.

With the newer generation growing up with touchscreens, I expect this trend to continue.

1. Asus Chromebook Flip

The Asus Flip is probably one of the best convertibles of all time with its excellent screen and hardware.
The Asus Flip is probably one of the best convertibles of all time with its excellent screen and hardware.

This laptop is probably the most popular touchscreen convertible.

A gorgeous convertible display

It features a 10.1-inch touchscreen with a 360 foldable hinge.

This means it can transform (or, “flip”) into a variety of devices right before your eyes. If you’ve never seen a convertible computer before, you’ll be in for a surprise. And so will your friends and coworkers.

The screen has nearly no wobble and is easy to open. It also feels sturdy enough to handle all the “flipping” you possibly want to do, but then again, that’s what it’s made to do. You can use it as a tablet, tent, stand, or as a regular laptop.

Some people aren’t really familiar with what a tent or stand is, so let’s go over it real quick:

Tent mode

What tent mode is: Folding the laptop into a standing position with the screen and keyboard opposed to each other, nearly 300 degrees.

Why you would use tent mode: A tent is useful when space is limited such as in a bus, car, taxi, or even in the kitchen. You can fold the laptop into a triangle, with the base being the surface you place it on. This allows you to view the screen without it taking up too much space.

Stand/Display mode

What stand mode is: Pivoting the screen to place the laptop in a mode where the screen is inverted and removes the keyboard from your way.

Why you would use stand mode: To get a closer experience with your device. This is useful when watching movies and you want to get as close to the screen as possible without anything in the way.

Powerful specs

It sports a 1.8GHz Rockchip CPU with 4GB of RAM and 16GB of storage.

Although the Rockchip processors are more popular in phones rather than computers, it halts no performance.

The Asus Flip is actually one of the best-performing and fastest Chromebooks according to reviews on Amazon and other sites around the web.

It has enough raw processing power to handle movies, videos, media, games, productivity, work, apps, and even multiple tasks at the same time.

Don’t doubt the capabilities of it. Even though it’s kind of dated, it still performs up to today’s standards.

Asus has gone all out and built a design that integrates both functions and innovation. It has a seamless aluminum body that’s more durable than the plastic you see in most models today.

Modern connectivity

It also has all the connectivity you’d want- USB 3.0/2.0, HDMI, MicroSD, audio, 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0.

You get everything you need for any modern appliances.

Super lightweight

It only weighs about 2 pounds and has a profile of 0.6 inches, makes it easy to carry around and bring with you wherever you need to go.

Doing work on the go? No problem. The metal body makes it feel extremely durable and sturdy.

It’s backed by tons of reviews all over the ‘net praising it as “one of the best Chromebooks ever made” and having an “amazing and innovative design.” You can’t go wrong the Asus Flip. Even though the Flip 2 has been released, the Flip 1 is still the king.

The reception of it was much bigger than the Flip 2 and revolutionized the whole industry. It’s one of the best laptops you can get, especially for the price/performance ratio.

What I like about it: Even after its debut and the release of the Asus Flip 2, it’s still regarded as one of the best Chromebooks ever made. And with excellent touchscreen support, Google Play support, and a convertible body, it deserves its spot.

It’s also one of the few Chromebooks with an aluminum chassis. It makes it look super expensive and gives it a unique, sharp look. It was also one of the first laptops ever to run Android apps. The Flip is one of the best Chromebooks with a touchscreen ever made.

2. Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 11e

The ThinkPad Yoga is nothing that special other than being value packed for the price.
The ThinkPad Yoga is nothing that special other than being value packed for the price.

The ThinkPad Yoga by Lenovo is another convertible Chromebook with a fully rotatable hinge.

It has thin bezels all around, which minimizes glare and reflection during use. I found this especially useful under brighter lights. The screen itself is pretty glossy and does reflect a lot of lights, so you’ll have to use this away from bright lights.

A nice HD screen

It sports an 11.6’’ HD (1366 x 768) 16:9 screen that you can touch with up to 10-points.

This is exactly like the R11 up above. It supports multi-touch so you can use multiple fingers at different points of the screen and it’ll register all of them. It also supports native HD video playback thanks to the Intel HD graphics.

Powerful CPU

It’s also decently powerful, with an Intel Celeron N3150 CPU clocked at 1.6GHz with Turbo Boost up to 2.08GHz and 4 cores.

It can also multitask with 4GB of RAM and offers the standard 16GB of storage. There are no upgrade options available for this particular model, however. It also has all the basic connectivity options.

The Yoga doesn’t really have much to offer over similar competitors, other than the feature set. You get 4GB of RAM and a powerful processor without the need to upgrade.

If you’re looking for the best bang for your buck, consider the Yoga.

Also good for online video calls on GoToMeeting, Zoom, Skype, MeetNow, Google Hangouts, Duo, etc. You can work and chat simultaneously without slowdown.

What I like about it: The thin bezels around the screen were a pleasure to work with. Most Chromebooks have huge bezels (0.5’’+) that just take up way too much real estate and make the form factor a loot bigger than it needs to be.

The battery is also amazing. Being able to walk around the house is awesome.

More manufacturers should look to this design and cut down on the bezels. All they do is take up space and cause glare. Site back and do your conferences with your peers. Or watch some cat videos.

3. Acer Chromebook R11

The R11 is a popular convertible with a powerful spec sheet and an excellent, responsive touchscreen.
The R11 is a popular convertible with a powerful spec sheet and an excellent, responsive touchscreen.

This is another convertible with a decent size of reviews to back it up.

Convertible Chromebook

Like the Asus Flip, the R11 has a fully transformable display hinge, which functions the same as the Flip and allows you use the devices as a notebook, tent, display, or tab.

You get all four modes for however you want to use it. Many people don’t like convertible since they’re still pretty new and just breaking through the common market. But it’s seriously the new design.

Students in schools all over the nation are growing up with convertible models, and all newer models in 2017 also use the same form factor design. It’s better for app integration and offers a way to interact with them much easier than a traditional keyboard and mouse (or touchpad).

A nice IPS screen

It has an 11.6” display with 1366 x 768 pixels, which makes this an HD screen. This size is the perfect size if you’re looking for something portable. If not, check out the R13- it’s the bigger version of the R11.

The screen is a LED-backlit IPS display, which means it has a wide viewing angle and has that clarity and sharpness you see in many other high-end laptops. The screen is a multi-touch display that supports up to 10 finger touch, which means you can potentially use every single one of your fingers on the screen.

Although it’s not as big as the R13, it’s still one of the best Chromebook with a touchscreen.

It also features “Zero Air Gap” technology, which means the images and vivid because reflections are reduced in sunlight.

But if you don’t’ use your laptop outdoors, it’s pretty much pointless. Indoors, the glares aren’t bad at all unless you’re directly under a very bright source of light. And even then, it really only shows if you go looking for it the glare on your screen.

Here’s a video showing off the Zero Air Gap technology (on a different device):

Upgradeable specs

As for specs, it features an Intel Celeron CPU with 1.6GHz of speed along with Intel Turbo Boost technology, which means it’ll speed up the processor and give you more processing power when you need it.

This is a nice feature to have, as it saves battery when you’re doing easy tasks that don’t require too much demand from the processor, but it gives you a boost in performance when you do things that are processor intensive.

You also get 2GB of RAM and the 16GB of memory. You can also upgrade to 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

If you’re a multitasker or you tend to need a lot of space on your laptop, you may want to opt-in for the double RAM and storage.

The upgrade in power nearly makes it twice as powerful for not much more of an increase in price.

(RAM is used for multitasking power. The more RAM you have the more apps and programs you can run at the same time.)

Patterned lid

The lid has an aluminum patterned design that adds some grip and has a very nice textured feeling to it. The Acer and Chrome logos also stand out against the white.

Although the lid is aluminum, the rest of the laptop is plastic. However, it doesn’t’ feel flimsy or cheap at all. It doesn’t get lose over time either. It’s sturdy and well-built.

And you can definitely feel it. There’s absolutely no wobble unless you try to intentionally make it wobble by wildly shaking it.

Other than that, I had no issues with the screen. You could totally use this on a moving bus or something with no problems. The HD screen is also very vivid and sharp. Images, videos, and text area all easy to read with very nice resolutions.

Although it doesn’t have the best screen compared to more expensive Chromebooks, what you get is good enough for most people especially at this price point. It’s well worth it.

All-day battery runtime

It’s advertised to run at 10 hours per charge, however, during my tests, I got it up to 8.5 hours.

This is probably because I was doing some pretty heavy lifting on the hardware- watching videos, listening to music, typing, browsing, and playing a few games. If you’re simply using it to do simple tasks, it should meet or exceed 10 hours easily.

It’s definitely enough to get you through a whole day on a single charge. It really depends on what you do with it and how you use it. You can also grab some apps that manage battery power if you’re paranoid about that sort of thing. NO need to be tethered to your charger for work! You haven’t experienced flexibility until you have a good battery.

I should also mention that the CPU has an Intel HD graphics integrated into it. This means that it can run some decent games without any issue, and playback some HD video as well. This is a selling point if you want an entertainment Chromebook with a touchscreen.

I could run basic shooters like GoreScript and puzzlers like Bejeweled to more advanced games like Blocky Sniper with no issues.

It has pretty much all the standard connectivity you’d expect- USB 3.0, USB 2.0, HDMI, Bluetooth 4.0, HD webcam, and 802.11ac WiFi.

What I like about it: The screen is probably the best thing ever. It’s very responsive and accurate. I tried swiping, spreading, and dragging things around with multiple fingers and it never fails to do what I want it to.

It also responds quickly when I switch it to tablet mode. The screen adjusts instantly and it knows what mode it’s currently in.

4. Lenovo N22 Chromebook

The Lenovo N22 is one of the most durable touchscreen Chromebooks you can buy.
The Lenovo N22 is one of the most durable touchscreen Chromebooks you can buy.

If you want a Chromebook with a touchscreen that’s not a convertible, this is probably one of the best ones you can grab.

The N22 Chromebook by Lenovo is basically a regular Chromebook.

And by regular, I mean it functions just like how you’d expect a regular laptop to function- without all the fancy bells and whistles.

Clamshell design with a touchscreen

It’s actually pretty hard to find a Chromebook that has touchscreen input without being a two-in-one or convertible.

There’s only a few of them on the market.

The N22 has an 11.6’’ IPS display that’s fully integrated with your fingers. It features native HD video playback with its 1366 x 768-pixel resolution. It also has an Intel N3060 Dual-Core CPU along with Intel HD graphics for sharp video and images.

The screen also has anti-glare tech built-in to reduce reflections and eye strain.

Double the RAM

You get 4GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, which is a good setup considering there are no upgrade options. It’s good enough for multitasking but if you download a lot of stuff from the Internet or store a lot of stuff locally on your computer, you may want to purchase an external hard drive.

But, we’re missing a special feature the N22 does better than its competitors.

It’s durability.

A very tough and durable touchscreen Chromebook

That’s right. The N22 is designed to be rugged and withstand all the daily wear and tear you can put on it. Lenovo built it with the following features:

  • Reinforcement around hinges and ports for preventing wear and tear
  • A water-resistant keyboard that drives water away from core components like a rain gutter
  • Non-slip texture on the frame adds extra grip for easy carry
  • Fully sealed touchpad prevents water and moisture from getting into the crevice that surrounds it
  • A thicker cover for the rear and a reinforced bezel frame around the screen absorb damage from bumps and drops
  • Corner and side bumpers prevent normal wear and tear from everyday use
  • A fanless design eliminates vents and prevents debris and dust from entering the body

The N22 is geared towards students and work professionals. If you’re looking for a simple Chromebook with touchscreen capability, this is your best bet.

The added durability and extra, extra ruggedness are just bonus features on top of the cake. Doesn’t that feel good?

And there’s more.

It even has a rotatable webcam, which means you can rotate the camera away from you to point at something in front of you. This is perfect for class or meetings where you want to record a lecture or give a presentation.

It also has all the regular connectivity you’d expect so you can connect your devices- USB 3.0/2.0, HDMI, 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and audio.

What I like about it: The design. The ruggedness. The attention to detail. You can see the small details that Lenovo went all out to make a device that can withstand the craziest and most clumsy users. Making a super durable Chromebook is something that more manufacturers are moving towards now, so they’re not the only one.

Although I haven’t been using mine that long, I’ve already bumped it dozens of times. I actually didn’t get a cover of this model because I wanted to test the strength of it.

So far, other than cosmetic damage, it runs like new. I should mention that the corner bumpers absorb some of the damage as well. You can easily rub off the damage with a dot of isopropyl alcohol and a cloth.

Did you find the perfect laptop?

So how do you like these Chromebooks?

They’re all perfect for those who like to navigate with their fingers and use a touchscreen rather than a trackpad. All of these are pretty much the most reputable models on the market and can be regarded as the best of the best.

They’re the best Chromebooks with a touchscreen that I’ve personally used in 2018 so far.

Do you have any other suggestions to add to the list? Let me hear ‘em and add ’em.
