So you’re looking for some Chromebook speakers to complement your laptop.
Thankfully, most laptop speakers that are powered by USB or Bluetooth already work out-of-the-box with Chromebooks.
This means you don’t need any special installation CDs, drivers, or other annoying things to deal with. You simply plug or connect them wirelessly and you should be blasting your favorite tunes or playing your favorite games or watching your favorite movies in no time. Woot.
Without further ado, let’s dive right into the list of the best Chromebook speakers on the ‘net.

1. Logitech S150 USB Stereo Dual Speaker System
This pair of speakers by Logitech is as…basic as you can get.
Logitech is one of the pioneers in the field of computer speakers.
They’re not too pretty, but they’re very cheap and affordable for the value.
They’re a pair of excellent speakers powered by USB only. This means you don’t need to plug it into any wall outlet. They get power from your laptop. It comes with a USB power supply with a LED indicator.
Everyone likes USB, right?
What I like about the S150 speakers is that they’re very compact and don’t take up a lot of space. This is perfect if you’re using a small desk in your home office and you don’t have room to spare.
They fit on my desk, which is already cluttered with a bunch of peripherals. They’re also small enough to carry around so they’re portable.
Logitech makes quality accessories. Speakers are no exception.
They also happen to fit into iPads, iPhones, Samsung Galaxy phones, Kindles, MP3 players, Tablets, or pretty much any other device that has a USB port. You’re not limited to just your Chromebook. It offers modern-day connectivity for all your gear.
The speakers come with one audio cable and one USB cable. You plug the audio cable into your Chromebook’s audio jack and the USB cable into any USB port. No setup or drivers needed. It’s as simple as it gets. There aren’t any multimedia ports, but again, it’s cheap.
As for sound quality, they sound OK. They have a single control knob for volume and a power button. There’s no volume balancing, equalizing, or any other fancy stuff. It’s basic, but it works. The sound seems to hit the treble notes with a bias more so than the bass.
But then again, this is just a pair of simple speakers. You can definitely hear the bass, but treble comes in louder. Other than that, the sound is crisp and clear.
Considering the price, these are a steal if you just want speakers for your Chromebook that work.
These are an excellent value for those looking for a cheap and affordable pair of external speakers to use with their laptop.
Pros:
- Cheap
- Affordable
- No setup required
- LED light
- USB-powered
- Sound quality is decent
Cons:
- No multimedia connectivity
- Treble bias

2. Logitech Multimedia Stereo Speakers Z200
Again, Logitech is a giant in the computer world.
They make premium speakers, mice, keyboards, and other computer accessories.
The Z200 is probably the most popular pair of basic laptop speakers you can get.
They plug directly into your USB port for power so no wall outlet is needed. What’s nice about the Z200 is that they have multimedia connectivity.
You can play audio content from multiple devices at the same time, such as your laptop and phone using a 3.5mm audio input and auxiliary line.
The sound quality is amazing. You get 2.5’’ drivers per speaker (2 each, a total of 4) that delivery 10 watts of peak power for stereo sound and deep bass. These things can really push the bass. You’d be surprised. The trebles, bass, and mids are all pronounced with no muffling. It’s the sound quality you’d expect from Logitech. Simply amazing.
You get one-finger volume control, and also power and bass boost controls all within reach. You also get an audio jack for your headphones built right into the speaker so you can listen to music and watch movies without the sound relaying through the speakers. The one-finger touch controls really come in handy when you’re multitasking.
Working at home while trying to take notes and do a video conference? But the volume’s too low? Turn it up with a single touch!
This means as soon as you plug in your headphones, the sound will play through them instead of the speakers automatically.
Each speaker has a kickstand giving it a unique look of luxury.
The design is very high quality and the acoustics are amazing for a pair of compact speakers. They’re compatible with your Chromebook, laptop, desktop, tablets, smartphones, and MP3 players. They also work with both Windows and Mac. (And Android, iOS, Linux, etc.)
These are excellent for video conferences or VoIP calls. They sound clear without the extra bass since you can control the output. Some people have deep voices and the bass boost isn’t necessary.
These are premium speakers without the premium price.
Pros:
- Amazing quality sound
- Deep bass
- Bass controls
- Headphone jack
- Plays audio from two devices at the same time
- Powered by USB
- Works with many devices
Cons:
- A little pricier than other options

3. Cyber Acoustics 2.1 Computer Speaker with Subwoofer (Chromebook-compatible)
If you’re looking to step it up a notch, the Cyber Acoustics 2.1 set is what you need.
You get two satellite (2’’) drivers in a set of desktop speakers along with a 5.25’’ subwoofer. If you’re the type that wants a full-on audio experience, this is for you. You can take your Chromebook out during the day, and come home to plug it in at night.
The setup obviously isn’t portable, so it’s for those who plan to leave their speakers at home.
First, let’s go over the two satellite speakers.
They’re both flat-panel design and very compact. They have a unique look to them with the stand that tilts them slightly upward. They’re kind of top-heavy so they’re easy to knock over. But as long as you don’t touch them, they’ll be fine.
The sound output is decent, with a bias towards the mids and treble. There’s little bass to be had in the speakers, but that’s what the subwoofer is for. They can get really loud with 62W of total output power. I found that I rarely volume all the way up because they’re super loud.
There’s definitely no lack of power here.
They’re magnetically-shielded with two-way drivers. The sound is pretty crisp and clean. It’s good quality stereo output. It’ll be a lot better than any laptop speaker for sure.
Now, let’s go on to the subwoofer.
This thing is huge. It’s pretty big for a subwoofer and you’ll have to probably place it under your desk. Of course, this setup isn’t meant to be portable, but you need to have some space under your work area for proper placement. I mean, it’s not that big, but it’ll definitely require some space.
The bass output is exceptional. It’s loud, rich, and full. It can get a little muddy at some notes, but you can easily fix this with your equalizer built into your laptop or computer.
The sound is solid and thunderous. It’ll rumble the floor, if that’s what you’re looking for.
Overall, the speakers and ‘woofer complement each other pretty well. They fill in where the other can’t. In other words, they deliver good sound when combined. It’s powerful bass and clear audio for whatever you need.
Now let’s get to the good part.
What’s the best part about this speaker system?
The control pod.
This thing attaches to the subwoofer (well, everything does pretty much). You then place it wherever is convenient for you with easy access. You can do everything with it.
It has a volume control knob, audio jack, bass boost, on/off switch, auxiliary input jack, and a LED light to indicate power. This offers extreme convenience at the touch of your finger. You can instantly turn the bass boost up or down.
You can instantly adjust the total volume. You can plug in a pair of headphones and the sound will play through your headphones instead of the speakers. You can instantly turn the power on and off. You can plug in an aux cable from your phone, tablet, or gaming system (this setup can play sound from two devices at the same time).
You can do everything from this control pod. That’s my favorite part about the whole setup. The LED blue light is also pretty cool, but it’s bright. It’ll light up your whole room if you don’t’ turn it off (a good reminder to save power).
The Cyber Acoustics 2.1 system makes a perfect speaker setup for your Chromebook. It’s affordable and has excellent sound output with lots of connectivity and a handy control pod. The sensitivity of hte controls can be gotten used to, so it’s not a big deal.
Update: After many years of owning this 2.1 sound system, the audio has gotten muddy and can only be fixed by playing around with the audio jack. By twisting it in random positions, it fixes the sound. Strange, but it’s worthy to note.
Pros:
- Two satellite speakers deliver crisp stereo sound
- Powerful subwoofer offers roaring and deep bass
- Quality stereo sound for a cheap price
- Works with Chromebooks or any other laptop, desktop, phone or tablet
- Control pod lets you adjust volume, bass, on/off, headphone input and aux input on the fly
- Affordable setup if you want a 2.1 speaker system
Cons:
- Treble-based speakers (but can be tuned easily with your computer’s basic settings)
- Subwoofer can be muddy
- Speakers are loud and the volume control is pretty sensitive

5. Earise AL-101 Mini USB Computer Speakers
Lastly, we have the pair of Earise mini computer speakers.
These are as basic as you can get for Chromebook speakers. They have a simple design, featuring a single driver per speaker.
You get decent sound packed in a portable speaker that you can bring with your Chromebook anywhere you go.
The trebles are definitely biased with a muffled bass, but that’s expected from a pair of cheap laptop speakers. These are perfect if you just want a quick, affordable solution without breaking the bank.
They’ll do the job with decent sound output. The sound isn’t too powerful, but it’s definitely enough if you just need to hear whatever is playing.
They’re very compact, so they’re good for small desks or work environments. You get a 3D stereo effect so you can hear where the sound is coming from.
You get a pair of weird-looking speakers with a volume control as well. The cables come included and they’re powered by a USB cable. No batteries or wires needed (to the wall outlet).
