My Chrombook froze black, with a curser. I couldn’t shut it off, on, tried the reset power trick, nothing. After I gave up and ordered a new Chromebook, I discovered the little button on THE SIDE of the laptop, next to the earphone jack. With really close inspection, I saw the on/off icon. Held it down, Chromebook woke up, new one canceled

I tried everything you said to do and nothing worked and my chromebook was still froze up. What did work and didn’t harm anything was pushing the refresh key and the power button and it’s working now.
