Photoshop Express is often mistaken as the “lite” version of Photoshop. Express is a completely different application and if you’re used to Photoshop, you’ll find that Photoshop Express is missing many of the tools you’re used to.

In a nutshell, the Express version of the software allows you to do basic photo touch-ups, add filters, and create collages. You edit photos by using a variety of tools, such as auto retouching pictures, rotating them, red eye removal, white balancing, cropping photos, and sharpening.

Compared to the standalone “real” Photoshop, it’s a very different application used for the most basic tasks. The benefit of it is that it’s free and runs directly through their cloud, which makes it more accessible to casual users who just need basic functionality.

If you’re a professional Photoshop user, you may not find the Express version that useful overall. But for basic photo adjustments, it does the trick.

I use photoshop mostly for creating invites, filters, posters, etc. I occasionally use it for photo editing. How does photoshop express work for this type of work? I’m looking to leave behind my traditional laptop and move to a tablet PC, two in one or a chromebook.

Chrome OS has come a long way and there are many photo editing apps and web-based software, however, they do have their limitations depending on what you need to edit and how technical you need to get. For professional editors, Chromebooks may not be sufficient. But for casual or even moderate users, it may just do the trick!
