well Laurel about lock screens he forgot to mention that the fact is that it is much more easier to remember a pin than a password all the time.

In reply to Noel. I set up my Chromebook with a New Google account. Then later I shut it down. After booting up again I was faced with an ENTER pin lock screen? But I never went through the following steps to create a pin/password lock screen. So I tried using the password to the newly created Google account and that didn't work either. Now I'm stuck in gust mode on a NEW CHROMEBOOK

I haven’t used my chrome book for a while
Can not remember my pattern to even get past the start up screen
Or on my other one , a screen password to get into the machine
There are no buttons to push or anything???

ASUS Chromebook uses the following insructions:
1) Log in to Chromebook.
2) Launch Chrome and type “chrome://settings”.
3) Find “You & Google”.
4) Clicking on your account opens “SETTINGS” window.
5) Click on “PEOPLE”.
6) Find and click on “SECURITY & SIGN-IN”.
7) Confirm using Google password.
8) “SECURITY & SIGN-IN” window opens.
9) Choose “PIN or PASSWORD”
10) Create a 6 number PIN.
11) Confirm the 6 number PIN.

Hi Noel,

It depends on what you’re doing. These settings should be reversible if you find that it doesn’t work out for you. They can be toggled from the Chrome Settings page.

Using a “Guest” account, setting up PIN unlock, and disabling sleep mode all are easy to undo. Since we’re not messing with the core of Chrome OS, you can easily switch back if you don’t like the setting.
