RepairCdDvD is a tool that recovers data from unreadable CD/DVD. It can help you retrieve the files from damaged CD DVD and save them to disk, the clipboard, or even the hard disk. No accumulated cost if you need more than one type media or file system supported. RepairCdDvD is a highly specialized yet easy to use media data recovery tool. It supports all disc formats and all common file systems. Insert a disc, start up RepairCdDvD and select the drive or media (if not selected already) and let RepairCdDvD mount the media. RepairCdDvD immediately shows you all the partitions or tracks and sessions located on the media, combined with all file systems that are present. This way you get easy access, just like explorer, to all the files and folders per file system. Instead of being limited to one file system that the OS picks for you, you have access. Access data from older sessions or hidden partitions, access data that your OS (e.g. Windows) does not see or hides from you etc. Combine this all-revealing functionality with far better read and recovery mechanisms, scanning for lost files functionality, workarounds for a wide range of drive and software bugs, limitations or shortcomings and you have an enormously powerful data recovery tool. RepairCdDvD is must-have-software for every PC user and is deliberately kept low priced to be able to offer a solution for everybody.

Tried everything in this post yet no cigar... Asus C202SA in question. Tried everything, and every time it's the same message “An unexpected error has occurred”

Tried making the recovery USB on 4 different devices using 5 different flash drives and hard drives 1 of which is a MacBook pro, tried in windows 7 and 10 with and without safe mode and networking... Basically, I've tried everything! Any help would be more than appreciated!

Well, I hadn't seen this post but went to the Powerwash as my recovery option. I have the Linux Beta turned on (in the stable env) and have been learning Python using the Sublime editor on the Linux side. Ever since the upgrade to the first V88 release my problem is that if I turn my Chromebook OFF (or do a RESTART after getting notified there is another ChromeOS Update - subversion). The Linux Beta settings shows it should be there and on but when I go to the Files App and click on Linux Files it just spins forever and never shows the files. At that stage if I try to start a Terminal session (which normally comes up so quick you don't see anything other than the terminal prompt) I get a prompt with a spinning slash and a message saying 'starting Linux' container but it never does. So I stopped the Terminal session, plugged in my USB External drive (Western Digital passport) and then went to settings and initiated the Linux Backup/Recovery screen, selected Recovery and pointed at the backup I had taken prior to trying to do the ChromeOS update. Recovery opens gives the warning message about erasing existing files and then runs the recovery to completion (about 1.3GB of data - way back at setup of Chromebook I gave the Linux partition 32GB of the 128GB on the Chromebook to make sure space wouldn't be a problem). After recovery I went to the Files app and clicked on the Linux Files again ... nothing, just a spinning icon. So I thought maybe it needed to be restarted. Signed Out and Signed Back In, brought up Files .... still nothing. So I then thought, shut it OFF, let it sit a minute and then POWER ON. Went into Files app ... clicked on Linux Files ... nothing. Everything on the Chrome side seems just fine. I see all my files under Downloads, I can run the browser, do email, run WPS spreadsheets & PDF files, etc. I have used the Recovery option before to restore the Linux environment and it all worked just fine (several versions back from v88).

So ,I'm at a lost. Have tried the above 2 - 3 times hoping for different results but nothing has worked. I have had this Chromebook for over a year and prior to this it has been flawless. I don't want to be stuck in the mode of POWERWASHING, reloading all my files into Download, turning on Linux Beta and then having to re-install every Linux package I'm using and then copy over selected directories out of the backup files with either Nemo or WickedGood Launcher. Anything you can suggest? Is there something I should be doing different (Do I need to somehow shut-off the Linux side BEFORE powering OFF? or put it into sleep mode or ....?) Thanks for any help you can suggest.
